The GMAT (The Graduate Management Admission Test) is a test that serves business schools as a tool to select MBA applicants. Unlike the TOEFL, it is compulsory for English and non-native English speakers. The GMAT is used by the vast majority of MBA programs to judge a candidate s ability to enter into an MBA program.
The test has been delivered via computer since 1997. With the rapid advances in information technology and the need for computer skills in the modern business world, the GMAT made the change not only to take advantage of technology, but also to test the ability of the test taker to handle basic operations of a computer.

The test consists of 3 sections:
Analytical Writing Assessment (Two 30 minute essays )
Quantitative Section (37 Math questions in 75 minutes)
Verbal Section (41 Grammar, Logic, and Reading questions in 75 minutes)

How is the test administered?

The test is administered via computer and is a Computer Adaptive Test (CAT). A CAT test is a test in which the level of difficulty of the questions is dependent upon the accuracy with which the preceding question was answered. Simply put, if you answer a question correctly, the test will generate questions of increasing difficulty. If you give an incorrect response, the test will adapt and then provide easier questions. The more difficult the question, the more points you are awarded for a correct response.

Scoring
GMAT scores range from 200 to 800 points.
Scores are valid for five years.
